Sexual harassment and sexual assault are anathema to the values of the Yale School of Medicine. Such behavior—including the making of unwanted advances, the requesting of sexual favors, the creation of a hostile, coercive, or intimidating work or academic environment, and certainly sexual assault—is particularly contrary to our values surrounding teaching, research and the practice of medicine and public health. Such behavior undermines the academic enterprise and poisons the workplace. The School will not tolerate it. We strongly encourage students, faculty and staff to report any such incidents.
Complaints may be brought pursuant to the YSM Grievance Procedures.
Persons found to have engaged in sexual harassment or sexual assault will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination or expulsion.
The Yale School of Medicine places a priority on eradicating such behavior through education, training, clear communication of our policies, and serious consequences to those who violate them.
